Lifepo4 Vs NMC (Li-ion) what makes the ebike so expensive? how does a hub motor work? hall effect sensor is one of the essential component used in bldc motor. because of them, the motors don’t require carbon brushes commutation. so to ensure that the sensors are working in the motor or not, we can use the following method. apparatus you need for a checking multimeter controller  motor (bldc) battery step 1: connect motor and battery with controller fig. A: battery or external power supply connected with controller fig. B: phase wire connection fig. C: hall sensor wire connection if you don’t have a battery then you can use an external power supply instead. step 2: set multimeter reading. fig. D: 20VDC multimeter setting set multimeter reading on 20VDC step 3: check the sensor output sequence. fig. E: hall input sequence check the sequence of the motor hall sensors. they must follow the above sequence so it shows they are working. connect the black terminal of the multimeter with the negative wire (black) of the controller and the red terminal with the positive wire (red) of the hall sensor wire group. fig, E: checking hall voltage at red wire it should range from ~4.5-5VDC. ok, now one by one check other wire outputs. fig, G: hall input sequence – 100 they will be like this 5V(Green wire) 0V(yellow wire) 0V(blue wire) fig.G. for 5V – 1, 0V – 0 the output voltage of sensors can change by gradually rotating the rotary part of the bldc motor. check the sequence againyou will notice the output voltage of each wire is different than the previous. fig. H: hall input sequence – 011 fig. I: hall input sequence – 001 repeat the same procedure to find the remaining sequences. how to know the sensor is damage: if the hall sensor wires output are 0 0 0 or 1 1 1 it means one of the sensor is damaged or need a replacement. you can use this method with any type of bldc motor. hope you find your solution. article by author name Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Lifepo4 Vs NMC (Li-ion) what makes the ebike so expensive? how does a hub motor work? what is a hub motor? the ebike controller is an essential component used in electric bikes. without a controller or driver, bldc motors are not possible to run. if suddenly the controller stopped working then how to know what are the problems in the controller?. is there any procedure or method to check, does the controller need repairing or replacing?in this article, you will learn by using some basic methods about how to check, the ebike controller is working or not. the list of components require multimeter (any type) controller battery  step 1: connect the battery with the controller. fig. A: battery or external power supply connected with controller first, connect the battery (I’m using an external power supply) with the controller as well as the activation wire present in the controller. what is the function of activation or key switch wire: it is used to activate the functions of other wires.depending upon the type of the controller its color may differ for different drivers. step 2: set multimeter reading fig, B : setting of multimeter reading set multimeter reading on 200VDC. with the help of a multimeter, check the voltage across the controller’s negative and positive wires. it should be close to the battery supply. fig. C: checking input voltage at positive and negative terminal of controller step 3: check the hall sensor, pin group. fig, D: hall sensor wire group every driver has the same number/color of a group of hall sensor wire. now connect the negative wire(black wire) of the controller with black wire of multimeter (grounded) and another terminal to the positive supply of hall sensor wire. it will show voltage around 4.9-5VDC. fig, E: checking hall voltage at red wire if not then internally, the controller has a hall voltage issue. now follow the same to other color wire check the voltages at yellow, blue, and green it should be between 4.5-5VDC. fig. F: checking hall voltage at yellow wire fig. G: checking hall voltage at green wire fig. H: checking hall voltage at blue wire if you didn’t get any reading from above, it means that some functions are not working and the controller needs to be replaced or repair. also, check if the motor hall sensors are working or not! step 4: check the controller MOSFETs fig. I: checking mosfets set multimeter reading on diode/buzzer/continuity. now connect a positive terminal of the multimeter with the negative wire and another terminal with phase wires (green, yellow, blue) of the controller. fig. J: checking phase wires of controller check each phase wire of the controller. it must have to show some ohmic resistance range from 415-490ohm. which is depends on the type of controller. if it doesn’t show you ohmic resistance that means one of the MOSFETs is damaged internally and needs a replacement. so this is the way you can find whether the controller is working or not. you can apply this method to any type of controller. article by author name Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. controller vs two hub motor

can a one-speed controller run two hub Motors?

add here text basic can a one-speed controller run two hub motors? : controller Vs hub motors pratik r. sonawane april 26, 2021 related topics how to check, bldc motor hall sensor is working or not? how to check, the ebike controller is working or not? how does a hall effect sensor work? can a one-speed controller run two hub Motors? what are the best tips for buying an electric bike? Yes, but it depends on the power rating of the controller used in the system. the controller is the device used to control the bldc motors. now let’s take an example if a bldc hub motor has a voltage of 36V with a power of 250W then which controller is suitable for the motor? of course, the same power (250W) or even more (+250W) than that of the motor so that the system becomes more stable and reliable. In short, the controller will operate efficiently. but what will happen by adding one more motor having the same power (250W) with the controller! Let’s understand  a driver system must have to share the total load of 500W so that the two motors can run. now, observe that the controller(250W) already is operating at its maximum limit and it is already sharing the total load of 500 watts (250W extra) which may cause major damage to the controller. Because it is not sustainable for two motor demands. there are two possibilities either the controller will get heat up or it will get damaged.  Then how to make it sustainable? to operate these two Motors on one controller, we have to replace these existing controllers with the new controller which has a power rating of 500 Watt or more so the conclusion is : yes, we can run two Motors on one controller but the condition is the power of the controller should be equal to the power of the motor. article by author name Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. If you are making a DIY ebike then you can select the high voltage and power rating of the motor. at various voltage levels, the linear acceleration is different.you will get an idea about how voltage can affect the speed of the vehicle? read also “what is the maximum speed achieved in an electric bicycle?”   Range: it depends on battery capacity. You must decide how many kilometers or mile ranges are needed. However, if you don’t know how much range you will get from ‘X’ amount of battery capacity then use this tool “Range calculator for Ev’s”this tool can help you to find a battery capacity for the required range.note: “range calculator” does not include losses of motor, vehicle dynamics, road circumstances so it is best to add an extra 10% capacity to the calculated answer.   Type of battery: which battery type is used in the ebike is directly related to the weight of the ebike, battery cycle, quality, etc matters a lot. a tip from my side: go for LiFePO4. learn more about Lifepo4. in short, lifepo4 (li-ion) batteries are safe to handle and can sustain inrush current during acceleration.   Motor type: motors used in ebike are mostly PMDC, BLDC, BLDC hub motors, and mid drives.tip: it will be better to go for a hub motor. because there are two reasons, first it will give an aesthetic look for your ebike, and second, it doesn’t have any complexity compare to the mid-drive motor.also, read what is a hub motor?   Loading capacity: it is essential to have an ebike capable of carrying 180-200 kg. for example, if you are a teenager (13-19-year-old) go for 24-36V and power of 250-500W, and adults (above 19 years old) – require 48V-60V and power of the 500W-1500W system.   Climbing ability: check the climbing capability of the ebike. if motor power is around 250w to 500w then better it has “PAS” (pedal assist system). above the power of 500W, there is no need for “PAS”   Features of the controller: features are very essential for any e-bikes. they are already inbuilt in the controller. in short, more features mean more possibilities.some of the important features must-have in the controller, likePedal assistance, E-brake system, display compatibility, auto-learning wire.   Display Type: there are two types of displays, analog and digital. analog displays are cheap compare to a digital display. in my opinion, you should buy a digital display.   Warranty: check which components have warranties and which components need regular maintenance. you should ask do they provide services for the product. for example services like repairing and replacement.   After-sale support: check the after-sales support. it is essential to have good customer support otherwise you might face trouble when having any technical issues. you can ask your friends for better recommendations. I more prefer for ebike rather than a petrol/diesel bike. surely, if you are reading the article then you also want to have a personal ebike where you can go on a long ride like a man who is enjoying as well as making the environment more prosperous for the next generation. the main reason for ebike is so expensive is because the demand is more but the supply is half of the total demand and some countries are still in their early stage. the main auto industry movers are still away from the EV industry. obviously low availability and low competitions are responsible for an increase in the price of EVs. also, the components used in the ebike are not available everywhere. the manufacturing hub of electric vehicle and their components are mostly located in china. as we know to order something from china is more expensive(shipping cost) than the price of the product itself. which is really makes it expensive to the end-user as well as the dealers.  one more thing plays a major role in making ebike expensive, “the battery unit” yes, the batteries are the heart of EV’s. it cost almost two times the cost of the components as well as if you want more mile range in the vehicle then have to increase battery capacity. these are the reason which makes an ebike so expensive. article by author name Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit.
